Our Name

The name of the Firm, Stirling Moore, derives from two parts.

Moore

At the beginning of the twentieth century, Arthur Capper Moore founded his own Firm under the name Capper Moore. His son joined him in 1921.

Capper Moore was one of the founders of the Federal Institute of Accountants, which went on to become the CPA’s. He served as its Secretary until his retirement when his son, Guy Moore took over both the Secretary role and the Firm. Guy Moore continued as Managing Partner until his death.

Guy Moore is the grandfather of S. David Pitt, the Managing Partner of Stirling Moore.

Stirling

Stirling is the first name of the Founder of the Firm and it is also his father's first name. His father also worked in the Practice of Capper Moore early on.
